A girl I emailed on CraigsList personals called “Sophia” sent me a spam email with links in it telling me to go to SecuredNetwork.org. “Sophia” says she is “shy about doing this” but she needs to feel secure before we hook up so I need to verify that I am not dangerous. The whole story is all lies, but 100s of men every day fall for this scam. Don’t be a sucker, this is a scam that will bill your credit card with porn charges. I got the same exact pictures from CL postings in the Inland Empire area of California.
If you check out the first picture, I received a picture with a little more border. There is a map on the wall. The geography looked familiar but I realized it was reversed because of the camera shot in a mirror. I flipped the picture and there it is, Victoria Island and the greater Seattle area.
Then you look at the room – very small with a pocket door to the restroom and it does look like a dorm room. This John Mayer must be hosting these college students like “Sophia.”
It ticks me off that she asks me if I am local and she loads up the site with ads to just waste my time.
PS, There should be somebody out there at the university who could just print out these pictures (public domain – I might add) and drop them around the university. This “Sophia” will be outed in about one day. The whole scam would get shut down.
