Here is a spam that you may have encountered. You respond to personal ads on CraigsList and soon after you are receiving emails that give you a password and login info for various dating sites. This spam starts with “You just started your membership.
To make it easy for you, we have already created a username and password for you.” The thing is I never asked to be registeredty on this dating, so how did they get my email? They got your email from the fake personal ads that you responded to on CraigsList.com. In this particular case CitySex.com is sending me these spammy emails. Read the full report below.

I haven’t done either the above (Craig’s List or lurked on a porn site) but still get these emails. They’re sent to an old email address I no longer use, and haven’t used for a couple of years now. An email address that every fricken spammer on the planet seems to have, so I dare say these bastards have purchased email addresses to spam from somewhere.
